Douglas S. Witcher: Chief Executive Officer
Doug Witcher, founder, has been Chairman and CEO of the Smart Choice® Agents Program since its inception. Launched in 1994, Smart Choice was established to help independent agents access better markets and establish solid relationships with some of the top insurance carriers in the nation. Doug has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry, and most recently, launched Smart Choice® Insurance Centers, designed to give independent agents brand name awareness in their communities as well as marketing and sales tools.
Andrew Caldwell: President
Andrew Caldwell has been President of Smart Choice® since November 2014. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President of Business Development. He primarily assists in expanding and growing the Smart Choice Agents Program, as well as supervising the Smart Start initiative and acting as a liaison between the accounting and sales departments. Andrew Caldwell has previously served as Vice President, Accounting Director, and Director of Commission Accounting, as well as a variety of other capacities since his start with the company in 2003.
Steve Bostian, CPA: Chief Financial Officer
Steve Bostian has been Chief Financial Officer of Smart Choice® since March 1996. He has also served as President (2008-2014), Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer of Smart Choice. Steve oversees all daily operations and finance within the company as well as provides departmental strategic and financial planning.
James Miles: Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Jim Miles has served as Smart Choice® Executive Vice President and General Counsel since January, 2008. Jim is responsible for overseeing compliance personnel and all legal matters for the company. He was previously a partner in the law firm of Hunter, Higgins, Miles, Elam & Benjamin, PLLC since July 2002, and has practiced law for 31 years.
Paul Taylor: Executive Vice President
Paul Taylor has been Executive Vice President of Smart Choice® since November 2006. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Smart Choice Director of Carrier Relations. Paul also served as Smart Choice of Kentucky State Director from 2000 until 2005. Paul's experience includes managing an independent agency and working for an insurance company. He is responsible for the overall operation of the Smart Choice Agents Program, serves as the liaison to major company partners and spearheads the expansion of the program into new states.
Kathy Phillips: Vice President and Controller
Kathy Phillips has been Vice President since May 2009 and Controller of Smart Choice® since February 2006. In her role she oversees all company processes and procedures including finance administration and human resources. Kathy has served Smart Choice in a variety of accounting capacities since her start with the company in 1995.
Jef Morgan: Chief Marketing Officer
Jef Morgan has been Chief Marketing Officer since January 2012. As part of the marketing team, he is responsible for the company's media and industry relations, advertising, and communications. Jef has over fifteen years of successful sales and marketing experience. He was previously Vice President–Strategic Marketing since joining the company in March 2011.
Joseph Fisher: Executive Vice President of Strategic Alliances
Joe Fisher is Executive Vice President of Strategic Alliances, a position he has held since December 2014. From January 2010 to December 2014 he served as President of Smart Choice® Franchise Corporation. Prior to that he served as Executive Vice President of Business Development. He has also served as Executive Vice President of Franchise Operations from November 2006 to July 2009. He joined the company in February 2006 as Director of Strategic Alliances. Joe brings a variety of successful experiences from a number of industries to his position.
